Hey all,

I haven't been active here for a while. I've been hard at work and life just got to me.

I've also been away to sunny Sardinia. It was beautiful and lovely weather. During the holiday, people around me noticed that I didn't complain about my headaches nor that I had to be in bed longer due to any migraines. Now that I got back to London I've noticed my headaches become stronger and I feel a migraine coming.

So, I thought I'd analyse my environment I live in and compare it to the environment in Sardinia.

1. I didn't look at my phone, unless I wanted to take photos or see what time it was. The duration of me looking at my phone wasn't long(less than a minute). I also didn't work, so I wasn't in front of a computer at all, for the whole week.

Now that I'm back I'm on my phone way more often, I am also in front of a computer again.... this just screems TRIGGER to me.

2. I didn't watch TV or films during this holiday (who would when they have this view and amazing people around all the time?)

Now that I'm back, I watch TV again...

3. I ate bread, but it was sourdough and bought from a bakery. I think the bread I sometimes eat here, just isn't up to scrap. I have to change so that I buy quality bakery bread and not store bought bread.

4. I was outside much more, with less pollution. Being on the edge of north Sardinia, with the sea 20 meters from the house, and Corsica in the distance, of course there would be a lot less pollution and petrol gas etc, compared to London.

5. There was less noise, no sirens or traffic noise. Only the waves crashing into the rocks and which ever music we had on at the time or people talking.

6. It was sunny, but I had sunglasses on all the time without feeling silly. When I'm in London and the light is bright but no sun, I feel silly having sunglasses on but it hurts my eyes and therefore hurts my head so I should really use my sunglasses more often.

How do I now change my habits and environment to fit the above as much as I can? I have to basically be outside more, not watch TV or be on my phone and computer a lot at all...hmm...See you in Sardinia?!?!

:)

Will Daith Piercing Be Your Cure?

You might have heard about daith piercing, or not at all...like me. I first heard about it a few months ago, so I decided to look into it to see if it might be something for me.

Here is what I found:
Daith piercing is a piercing in your inner ear. It is thought to be passing through the ear’s innermost cartilage fold, an essential pressure point. If you stimulate it your headache and even migraines can be reduced. This is where the earring comes in.

It is thought to pressure this point, just like acupuncture, which is the ancient Chinese medicine. Needles are inserted at specific points on the body to ease pain.

If you dont want to pierce your ear(s) then try to massage your inner ear on the same side as the migraine and you might find relief. It is worth a try!

As I still am not sure it will help me I will try the above, if I notice an effect I might consider it. On the plus side, if you want to try it you can get so many nice earrings, like this one:

Please note, the effect of daith piercings relation to decrease migraines has not been officially studied. Please speak to your doctor about any questions you might have.

Sunny Side Up

Hey everyone,

I am totally obsessed with eggs at the moment. There are so many different things you can do with eggs; poach them, pan fry them, boil them, scramble them or make an omelette, you can make sauces with them and bake with them...basically, ANYTHING! :)

It is widely believed that poaching is hard to do but the fact is, it's actually quite simple. Here's how to do it:

My favourite breakfast
Poached egg with avocado

What you need:
1 tbsp clear vinegar
Boiling water to fill 3/4 of a pot
1-2 eggs
1 ripe avocado

How to:
Put the vinegar in the pot, boil the water in a kettle (It is just quicker)
Put the boiling water in the pot and keep the stove on mark 6 (of 9)
The important thing here is that the water shouldn't boil, not even simmer. It should be at the temperature just before the tiny bubbles occur.

Crack the egg carefully and put the raw egg slowly in the pot. Leave for 3-5 minutes. Once finished carefully pick it up with a spatula with wholes in it so the excess water drips down. The egg white should be shiny put just solid and the yolk should be runny.

While the egg is cooking, halve the avocado, mash the avocado if you like or cut it in half moon pieces. Top with the poached egg.
Garnish with some salt and pepper.

Enjoy!

The first blog post

Hi Migraineurs! This is my first blog post to you guys. It has been long in the making as I have had to build up the confidence in writing this blog. The reason for this blog i to reach out to other migraineurs, as it is not just me suffering from migraines, it's you too. My hopes for this blog is to give support, inspiration and hopefully help someone improve their life, decreasing the migraines and maybe even help get rid of them. I am on a journey to find my "cure", I use the bunny ears here as some might believe there is no cure, I am not sure I believe there is a cure, BUT, I know there are things we can do to reduce them to the point where a migraine occur maybe once or twice a year. Being a person with migraines every week and headaches each and every day, I can't wait for that morning I wake up with no pain what so ever! Imagine that!! So follow this blog, follow my journey and hopefully we can share experiences, tips and support! xx Rebecca
